Write Your Child

Please write the letter to your child within the space provided in the message box below.  At the end of the page you will find a “choose file” or “browse” button to attach a photo of yourself to send to your child.

Here are some suggestions for writing your letter:

  • Ask how your child is doing in school and in their spiritual walk with the Lord.
  • Describe things like your family, work, education, special activities, and hobbies you enjoy.
  • Talk about your relationship with Jesus and share your prayer requests with your child. Your child does pray for you!
  • Ask your child questions about his daily life, what he/she enjoys.
  • Encourage your child in school, in his/her family and spiritual life.
  • Ask them for specific ways to pray for them, and/or share a verse with them.

Here are some things to avoid when writing your letter:

  • Talking about material possessions or using slang words.
  • Sending your personal address, phone number or email.
  • Criticizing the child’s country or political system.
  • When choosing a photo to attach, please use discretion. No bathing suits or extreme tank tops, short shorts or mini skirts. Some of these fashions may not be considered appropriate in your child’s country.

You also have the opportunity to write to the HOL parent of your child. They need encouragement and prayers as they seek to care for your child. They would greatly appreciate a letter of encouragement. You can use this same form (and guidelines) when writing to your child’s HOL parents.

If you have any questions please contact us at (865) 660-4048 or hol@homesoflove.org.  Thank you!
