The Gift of Gods Love

This July, a group of middle school students from Fellowship Church made Build-a-Bears for Homes of Love children. They made the stuffed animals with intention, knowing that they were meant to remind the recipients that they are loved by God.

After making the bears, the students wrote notes to the Homes of Love children. They were so endearing that we thought we would share some excerpts here. From one child to another across the world ... what love of God that binds us all together!

Dear Friend, I probably live very far away, but I sent this card to tell you the most important thing you will ever hear. Jesus loves you. Even if you are going through hard times, He is looking out for you. Jesus loves you so much that he sacrificed his life to save you. All you have to do is trust him. Have joy, the God of the universe loves you.

Dear Friend, I hope this present brings you great joy. I wanted to let you know that God loves you so much that he sent his son to die for YOU.

Dear Friend, God loves you SO much and will always be there for you when you need him. He has good plans for you.

Dear Friend, God loves you and made you to live in this world at this time. You are loved. Trust in the Lord, He is good. He loves you, I love you, and your family loves you. Never give up. You are special and amazing.

One final hug before sending this gift to Zimbabwe!

Dear Friend, One of my favorite pastimes is reading. I wonder if you might like to read. I hope you love the bear as much as I do. I hope you remember that Jesus loves you. Always remember, you are loved.

The Build-A-Bears don't just bring joy to the children. Read what our in-country staff said about these gifts.

On one of the mornings at camp, I pleasantly noticed that all the children were lovingly clutching their new Build-a-Bears. What really got my attention was that each of the children was happy with the one they got, there was no trading or envious glances at someone else's bear.

These were special, almost as though they were perfectly made for each child.

It's clear that the Build-a-Bears held a deeper significance for the children, symbolizing love, uniqueness, and special attention. The fact that each child was content with their own bear, without feeling the need to compare or trade, speaks to the sense of self-worth and individuality that the experience fostered. The story behind the Build-a-Bears, and the love that went into creating them, undoubtedly made them even more precious to the children. It's beautiful to think that these bears will serve as a reminder of their specialness and the love they deserve, a sentiment that will stay with them throughout their lives. The Build-a-Bears may have been a small part of the camp experience, but their impact will be remembered and cherished by the children for years to come."

The story of these middle schoolers shows that anyone can get involved with Homes of Love, no matter their age. These students, with hearts full of love, created something that will have a lasting impact on children halfway across the world. What's even more beautiful is that the act of giving brings joy not only to the children who receive the bears, but also to those who create them.

This is the heart of Homes of Love
